Usage of social media goes out of control

Aurangabad, March 9, 2018: Social media has taken control on the minds of students. Students of MGM College have given statements regarding the same and accepted that the present generation and the upcoming generation are way much more than not only addicted to social media but completely immersed in the usage of social media.

Sumit Kulkarni, 4th year student of electrical engineering, Jawaharlal Nehru College of Engineering (JNEC) said,” People stay wide awake till late. Students never pay attention towards the person physically present in front of them. Also, students and teenagers intend to show off with the help of social media and also many a times put their lives in danger. It affects badly in childhood of upcoming generations as kids don’t play physically out neither get involved in any such activity.” Sumit personally uses 40% of day in getting involved in social media.

A 4th year mechanical engineering student of JNEC, Manoj Polawar said,” Social media is bad because of its over-usage. It is bad for teenagers (below 15 years according to Manoj) because they are not mature enough to use it wisely as it is possible that they can go on a wrong track in the influence of social media. Over use should be avoided and instead, it should be used for different purposes rather than only texting. I would like to give my own example that as soon as I wake up, I always check my mobile first for messages on social media.” Manoj personally uses 65% of the day in texting and surfing on social media. Usage of social media is being a serious issue now a days and hence should be looked upon and proper measures should be taken by parents as well as children against it.
